What can you learn from this test?
What can you learn from this test?
This test can help you figure out if any symptoms you're experiencing might be due to an overactive or underactive thyroid. It looks at three important thyroid-related hormones: free thyroxine (FT4), the more active free triiodothyronine (FT3), and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH).
Most thyroid issues stem from autoimmune conditions where the immune system attacks the thyroid gland. This test also measures thyroid antibodies (thyroglobulin and thyroid peroxidase antibodies) to see if an autoimmune condition might be affecting your thyroid function.

What are we testing?
Thyroid
Why test it?
Your thyroid is a small gland in your neck. It produces hormones that help control your metabolism and how your body consumes its energy.
An underactive thyroid doesn’t make enough of your thyroid hormones - this is called hypothyroidism. If you make too much of the thyroid hormone it is called an overactive thyroid or hyperthyroidism.
Symptoms can range from tiredness, weight gain or loss, to mood problems.
